Northern Hearing Services is a vibrant center for excellent audiological care in Alaska. At our three locations, we see patients from all over the state because of our remarkable reputation for services and ethics. We still have people who now live out of state visiting us every year because they don’t want to switch audiologists.
Our team strives to truly understand the unique needs of our patients, their hearing loss and how sound plays a role in their lifestyle. Our philosophy is “when in doubt,” add more time.
Our Culture
Our AuD staff, known as the “AuD Squad,” rotates through our locations because we believe that the best cohesiveness comes from all of us working together.
We believe that we need to be able to come to our workplace and have fun helping people hear. And our patients need to “have fun,” or at least feel at ease. There is no hearing aid quota to be met. The AuD Squad enjoys discussing cases, sorting out hearing challenges and telling funny stories.
Along with a friendly environment, we also offer our community hearing loss treatment of the highest caliber. In addition to treating children and adult populations, we offer early hearing detection and intervention and work with Special Olympics AK.
Typical Day
The workday starts with checking in with one another and of course, coffee. We pay close attention to our schedules to make sure each patient is given the appropriate amount of time and services that they need. We spend the day helping people hear and may have a mix of new and returning patients. The day wraps up with finishing notes, prepping equipment, repairing a drop off or making phone calls.
Our team often spends time together after work, embarking on summer hikes or winter walks with headlamps.
